BARROW2026 DAILY REVIEW - Thursday, 2nd July, 2026
July 2, 2026
Yesterday, 738 young women and girls graduated from entrepreneurship training under the SWEDD+ Project. With President Adama Barrow serving as Guest of Honour, the programme marked another step towards empowering women with the skills to start businesses, earn an income and build a better future for themselves and their families.
The government also reassured the nation on public safety. Following a number of tragic incidents in recent weeks, the Inspector General of Police and the Minister of Information addressed the country and reaffirmed that every effort is being made to bring those responsible to justice.
They reported that overall crime has fallen by 7.3 percent, while The Gambia remains one of Africa’s most peaceful countries. More police vehicles are also expected to strengthen law enforcement across the country.
Meanwhile, the registration of two new political parties serves as another reminder that democracy is alive and well under President Barrow. Political competition continues peacefully because this government respects freedom of association, political choice, and the rule of law.
While some spend their time dividing the country and arguing over political labels, the Barrow government remains focused on what matters most: creating opportunities, strengthening security, protecting democracy, and improving the lives of ordinary Gambians.
