This Privacy Policy explains how the National People's Party (NPP) of The Gambia ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website at npp.gm, our "Ask Barrow AI" assistant (on this website and on WhatsApp), and related services.

Who we are

The data controller is the National People's Party (NPP), The Gambia. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info@npp.gm.

Information we collect

Messages you send to Ask Barrow AI. The questions and messages you type into the assistant, and the responses it returns, so we can answer you and improve the service.
WhatsApp information. If you message Ask Barrow AI on WhatsApp, we receive your WhatsApp phone number and the content of the messages you send, as provided by the WhatsApp Business Platform, in order to respond to you.
Technical information. Basic technical data such as your IP address, browser/device type, and timestamps, used for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.
Cookies. A cookie is used to keep your chat conversation available when you return, plus standard cookies needed for the website to function. See "Cookies" below.

We do not ask you to create an account to use Ask Barrow AI, and we do not knowingly collect more personal information than is needed to provide the service.

How we use your information

To operate Ask Barrow AI and answer your questions about President Adama Barrow, the NPP, and The Gambia.
To maintain the continuity of your conversation across messages and visits.
To monitor quality, fix problems, and improve the accuracy and helpfulness of responses and our content.
To protect the service from abuse, spam, and excessive use (rate limiting and security).

AI processing and third-party services

Ask Barrow AI uses third-party providers to function. When you send a message, its content may be processed by these providers solely to deliver the service:

Anthropic — provides the AI model (Claude) that generates responses. Your message content is sent to Anthropic to produce an answer.
Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) — delivers messages between you and the assistant when you use WhatsApp. Your use of WhatsApp is also governed by Meta's own privacy policy.
Hosting and infrastructure providers — host the website and store data on our behalf.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages for advertising.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies: a session cookie required for the site to work, and a conversation cookie that lets you see your previous Ask Barrow AI messages when you come back (this expires after about 30 days). You can clear these at any time in your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep conversation messages for as long as needed to operate and improve the service, and to meet legal or security requirements. You can ask us to delete your conversation data — see "Your rights".

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact info@npp.gm and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children's privacy

Ask Barrow AI is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Ask Barrow AI is an automated assistant. It provides information based on official NPP content and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. Its responses are not official statements by President Barrow or any individual. For official matters, please contact the party directly.
