Protecting Families, Building Partnerships

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has announced an immediate ban on fundraising activities in public schools. This means schools can no longer ask students or their parents to buy tickets, make cash contributions, or take part in fundraising activities that place financial pressure on families.
The message is simple: every child deserves access to education without extra financial burdens. Schools have also been warned to comply with the directive or face disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, President Adama Barrow has arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, as part of an official visit aimed at strengthening The Gambia’s ties with key Islamic institutions. During the visit, he is expected to meet leaders of the Muslim World League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to discuss cooperation in education, development, humanitarian support, and other areas of mutual interest.
Back home, Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow, representing President Barrow, received ambulances and medical equipment donated through the West African Health Organisation with support from the African Development Bank. These resources will help strengthen emergency healthcare services and improve the country’s ability to respond to medical needs.
From reducing the financial burden on parents, to strengthening international partnerships and improving healthcare, the Barrow administration says it remains focused on policies that deliver practical benefits for the Gambian people.
