GOVERNMENT LISTENS, GOVERNMENT RESPONDS
September 4, 2026
During President Adama Barrow’s engagements with communities across the country, Gambians raised concerns about the recent increase in charges at public health facilities.
Government listened.
The decision has now been reversed, and the previous fees restored. Healthcare for children under five and antenatal services will also remain free.
This is how government should work. Decisions are made, people speak about how those decisions affect them, and where necessary, changes are made.
Listening to the people is not a weakness. It is part of responsible leadership.
When Gambians speak, their government should listen—and respond.
