The religious leaders called for unity, peaceful political competition and an end to division and confrontation. They also spoke positively about the country’s development and the importance of continuing the work of building a better Gambia.
Importantly, the message included clear praise for President Barrow’s record. Imam Abdoulie Kanteh said the President “has done a lot,” before using a football analogy to ask why you would change a team that is winning.
Elections come and go, but the roads we build, the schools we improve, the services we deliver and the opportunities we create remain part of our national story.
Peace. Unity. Progress. That is the Gambia we should all be working to build.
