MORE POWER, BETTER SCHOOLS — INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

A new US$11.9 million electricity project will strengthen the power network across Greater Banjul, with more than 40 communities and around 80,000 people expected to benefit.
At the same time, this year’s GABECE results show the best national performance in five years, with more students progressing and particularly strong results in science.
President Adama Barrow deserves credit for keeping investment in essential services and education high on the national agenda. There is still more work ahead, especially on electricity, but progress should also be recognised.
Better schools. More reliable power. More opportunities for Gambians. That is the direction the country needs.
