The Difference Is Becoming Clear

The opposition’s coalition talks continue to falter over questions of leadership and political advantage. Instead of presenting a united front, the discussion has increasingly centered on who should lead and under what terms. Recent developments suggest that holding such a coalition together may prove even harder than bringing it together in the first place.
Speaking at the Team First Lady rally in Jambur, President Adama Barrow said Gambians want leadership that is united, organized, and focused on the people. He questioned how those struggling to maintain unity within their own ranks could convince voters they are ready to govern the country.
The rally also marked the beginning of First Lady Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow’s nationwide public engagement campaign, bringing together supporters and community members in Jambur.
Earlier, President Barrow addressed the Youth Innovation Summit, where he reaffirmed his commitment to investing in young Gambians through innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development—describing young people as central to the country’s future.
Meanwhile, the NPP continued strengthening its Alliance by handing over campaign vehicles to allied parties, improving their ability to coordinate activities and reach communities across the country.
The contrast is becoming increasingly clear. While others remain preoccupied with coalition negotiations and leadership questions, President Barrow and the NPP-led Alliance continue building their organization, expanding their reach, and taking their message directly to the Gambian people.
