Strengthening Unity Through Partnership
July 30, 2026
Yesterday, State House was filled with supporters and well-wishers as the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), led by Hon. Mama Kandeh, officially joined the NPP-led Alliance. Accompanied by vibrant cultural performances, the ceremony marked one of the most significant political developments of the campaign, demonstrating that more leaders are rallying around a shared vision for peace, stability, and national development.
President Adama Barrow welcomed the GDC into the Alliance, emphasizing that the partnership is built on service to the nation rather than political convenience. He assured GDC members that they would have a meaningful role in shaping The Gambia’s future and reaffirmed that the Alliance remains open to all who are committed to peace, unity, and development.
Hon. Mama Kandeh described the decision as one taken in the national interest, arguing that responsible leadership sometimes requires cooperation instead of confrontation. He urged Gambians to embrace unity, mutual respect, and constructive politics, while calling on Alliance supporters to work tirelessly for victory in December.
Yesterday’s events offered a clear reminder that leadership is ultimately about putting country before politics. As the election approaches, the NPP-led Alliance continues to present itself as a broad coalition focused on stability, development, and a shared future for all Gambians.
