Building a Stronger Nation at Home and Abroad

Today, we highlight two developments that reflect The Gambia’s growing strength both at home and across the region.

President Adama Barrow has sent Foreign Minister Hon. Sering Modou Njie to Senegal as his Special Envoy with a presidential message for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. The visit reflects the close ties between the two countries and President Barrow’s continued commitment to dialogue and cooperation.

A strong relationship with Senegal is important for trade, security, regional integration, and the movement of people and goods. It is another reminder that good diplomacy helps create opportunities and stability for Gambians.

At home, The Gambia also received continental recognition for its progress in domestic revenue collection. During the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) Master Class Meeting in Banjul, Gambia Revenue Authority Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe was named Africa’s Champion for Domestic Revenue Collection.

President Barrow said stronger tax collection is helping government invest more in national development, including the construction of over 400 kilometres of roads and other essential infrastructure. He also emphasized that public trust grows when people can see their taxes being put to good use.

The message today is straightforward: a stronger Gambia is built through sound leadership at home and strong partnerships abroad. Both are helping lay the foundation for continued peace, progress, and development.
