A strong democracy is built on strong institutions that work together while respecting each other’s independence. That is the message President Adama Barrow reinforced at the Maiden Tripartite Conference on the Commonwealth Latimer House Principles.

For the first time, the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary came together in one forum to strengthen cooperation, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. This reflects President Barrow’s continued commitment to building institutions that serve the Gambian people with fairness and integrity.

President Barrow emphasized that the strength of a nation does not lie in one branch of government, but in the balance and harmony among all three. Democracy succeeds when each institution performs its constitutional role independently while working together in the national interest.

The President also made it clear that accountability, justice, and the rule of law are not optional. They are the foundation of lasting peace, sustainable development, and public confidence.

This historic conference demonstrates leadership focused not only on development, but also on strengthening the democratic institutions that protect the rights and future of every Gambian.
